Backyard Creations was founded by Todd McGarity in Birmingham, Alabama with a simple mission: build exceptional pools and treat every customer like family. More than two decades later, that mission hasn't changed.
We are not a franchise. We are not a national chain. Every pool we build has Todd's personal attention — from the initial consultation through Pool School on completion day. That owner-involvement is something you simply cannot get from a larger company.
Our in-house crew handles excavation, plumbing, structural rebar, shotcrete, coping, decking, and equipment installation. We don't subcontract the critical work. That means tighter quality control, faster timelines, and someone accountable at every step.
From modest backyard pools to large-scale resort projects like the Margaritaville Beach Cottage Resort in Panama City Beach, we bring the same care and craftsmanship to every job.

Todd founded Backyard Creations in the late 1990s and has personally overseen every project since. His hands-on approach and commitment to quality are the foundation of everything we do.
Nic McGarity
Operations
Nic keeps projects running on time and on budget, coordinating our in-house crews across job sites throughout Alabama, Florida, and Tennessee.
Zac McGarity
Crew & Field Operations
Zac works hands-on with the crews in the field, ensuring every job is built to the highest standard from excavation to final finish.
